What You Can and Can't Eat
What can you eat?
Eating proper foods and minimizing sugar intake are essential during orthodontic treatment. For the first
day or so, stick to soft foods. Your braces are precise appliances that can be loosened or dislodged by
eating hard foods. Avoid tough meat, hard breads, raw vegetables and sticky foods which can also cause
tooth decay. Remember, improper eating habits will delay treatment.
Avoid these hard foods:
* Also avoid ice, hard tacos, and hard pizza crust.
Avoid sticky and chewy foods such as:
Chewing on hard things (i.e. pens, pencils or fingernails) can damage the braces.
Broken appliances will prolong overall treatment time.
