Headgear
Why the headgear?
This appliance is one of the best ways of moving upper teeth. When worn well it will decrease treatment time, and reduce the chance of extractions or surgery.
How will it feel?
You can expect the teeth to be sore the first night or two that you wear it.
When do I wear it?
We recommend you wear your headgear 12-14 hours out of the 24-hour day. (Yes, you can and should wear it more!) If you miss a day it takes three days to get back to where you were. Remember: The more you wear your Headgear, the better the response and the fewer months it will ultimately need to be worn.
Exceptions to wear:
Never wear it during rough play or contact sports.
Always bring your Headgear and scorecard to every appointment to ensure proper fit.
If you have any questions on how the Headgear should be worn, please call us during regular office hours.
